Q + A

Why Mexico?

Our first vacation together was Allison tagging along on Ty's family trip to Cancun, a month after we started dating. Allison even left half way through the trip to attend their friend's (Kirsten and Alex!) wedding, and flew back to Mexico to surprise Ty for the second half of his trip. We have since been back four other times. We love the idea of having a few days to spend with everyone hanging out at the beach and pool, and we hope you can make the trek! We understand that our destination is a big ask and we completely understand if it's not feasible for you.

How can I book my room and how do I get to the hotel?

If you are able, please book your room by September 10. The Travel tab will send you to our booking partner, Hola Weddings, where you can book your room and set up airport transportation through Hola. They will handle all of the booking with the resort and making sure you're in our reserved room block! Please make sure to go through Hola rather than directly with the resort, as prices will be different and coordinating the wedding group with the resort wedding planner will also be easier. Thank you!

Can I bring my kids?

Valentin Imperial is an adults-only all-inclusive resort, so no kids are allowed on the property whatsoever. We hope you can take this time to have a fun trip away from the kids! If you have any concerns with this and logistics about bringing your kids with you and maybe staying at a different, nearby, resort that allows kids, please reach out to Ty or Allison.

What is the attire?

Beachy semi-formal; short dresses are okay but no shorts please. "If I have to wear pants you have to wear pants" - Ty himself. Jackets and ties are optional. You’re welcome to be barefoot for the beach ceremony (we will be!), but you’ll probably want shoes for cocktail hour and reception.

What's the resort like?

Valentin Imperial is an adults-only all-inlcusive resort on the beach. All food and beverages are included in your room rate. There are multiple pools and there are six restaurants that you have all-inclusive access to. Hola Weddings can also answer any other questions about the resort.

What's the venue like?

Our wedding ceremony will be on the beach, after which we will move to a gazebo for cocktails and then to a reception area, called Las Fuentes, also on the property. The gazebo and Las Fuentes are both outdoors with a solid floor. You can be barefoot for the ceremony if you wish (Allison and Ty probably will), but you probably want to bring shoes for the next two locations. We have a backup indoor location in case of bad weather.

Can I bring a plus one?

If you have a plus one, it will be indicated in the RSVP link when you RSVP. If it does not say that you have a plus one, you are more than welcome to bring a friend/partner/travel buddy to the resort with you, but we won't have room for them at the ceremony or reception. Feel free to reach out to Ty or Allison with questions or if you think there's a mistake, we definitely could have missed something!

Can I stay at a different resort?

You can definitely stay at a different resort if Valentin doesn't meet your needs. Part of our choice for a destination wedding was to hopefully have some time with everyone hanging out at the pool in the days before and the day after the wedding, but you can definitely stay somewhere else. Since Valentin is all-inclusive, you will need to pay a day pass fee of $100 in order to attend the wedding, and the day pass will last until the end of the reception. Please still RSVP on here for the wedding, and let us know you will not be staying at Valentin so we can keep counts correct. You can reach out directly to hola@holaweddings.com in order to set up your guest passes.

What if my name is not coming up on the RSVP page?

We may have put you in the list under a nickname or made a mistake in the guest list. Please reach out to Ty or Allison if you aren't able to find your name to RSVP!
